The Role: Shift Engineer, Operations (Narrabri, NSW)

An outstanding opportunity has become available for a Shift Engineer at our Narrabri Mine. The Shift Engineer is responsible for the safe execution of the mine operating plan and performance of the Shift Engineers allocated shift, by complying with and enforcing effective safety systems in accordance with legislative and statutory OH&S requirements, Health and Safety Management plans.

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Manage performance by mentoring and monitoring of shift personnel and enforcing standards of work and behaviour.
  • Ensure all shift reports are accurately filled in to the required standard.
  • Execute 24 hour plans in line with the Narrabri Mine’s planning process.
  • Ensure 24 hour plans are distributed and communicated to all relevant parties on shift.
  • Ensure Maintenance contractors engaged are managed to meet all requirements under site policies and procedures.
  • Take timely action to rectify unacceptable performance and / or behaviour in accordance with the relevant policy or procedure.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:

  • 5 years experience in underground coal mining (Desired).
  • Desired Post trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or in the process of obtaining.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Trade.
  • Experienced in the use of Maintenance Management Systems (Pulse preferred)
  • Sound commercial acumen with the ability to relate physical activities to budget goals and constraints.
